running, a restart

How many times in the last two years have I attempted to restart running?  Too many to count.  But with the approach of the new year, I am feeling hopeful again.  Today, took Piglet to Rancho and did a Week 1 run of the Couch-to-5k program.  It was an unusually warm day-the temperature was in the mid-50s.  This “run” consisted of 22 minutes of walking and only 8 minutes of running, but it was still a workout for me.  In the afternoon, I headed over to a running store and equipped myself with new shoes, new socks, a hat, and a pair of gloves (for those cold morning winter runs).  Now, feeling tired but optimistic.  The plan is to run on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.  First, work up to 3 miles without walking.  Then, hop on a half-marathon training schedule.  I am shooting for this one in May 2012.  That would feel very good for birthday #36. :)
